Willem Van Der Kooi owner of the Dutch Lotus importer Van Der Kooi Sportscars, was crowned European champion in the Lotus Cup Europe 2007 after concluding the season with three victories.
Van Der Kooi was competing in the European championship for the fourth year in a Lotus Cup Exige,
The 2007 ‘Lotus Cup Europe’ championship comprised seven rounds, starting at the Nürburgring and then on to Brno, Hockenheim, Oschersleben, Dijon, Monza and finally once again Hockenheim.

The ethos of the ‘Lotus Cup Europe’ lies in the original character of road racing, weekday with the car to office and in the weekend the slicks and race. Naturally, reliability plays a large role.
The cars eligible for the ‘Lotus Cup Europe’ were roadgoing Elises and Exiges in standard specification, though exhausts were free. Willem’s race-Exige, provided with a 243 bhp engine and a weight of 890 kilogrammes, is still road registered and legal.
QuickSilver were proud to be associated with Willem’s success providing the same QuickSilver Exhaust Manifold and Race Cat available to all Elise & Exige owners.
